ARTISTS

Rebeca Gutiérrez

Circus artist specialized in circus aerial (static trapeze, double trapeze, Corde lisse and tissue). She specialized at the Rogelio Rivel Circus School; took an intensive Corde lisse course with Terry Crane; trapeze improvisation classes with Roberto Magro at the School Il Piccolo Circo; and several courses of contemporary dance.

She worked with different circus companies: Comediants, Toniton, K-de calle, Pingaliraina … and in 2006, together with her sister and Iris Mur, they created the circus company Capicua.

At present she is performing and touring with the Capicua company with two shows “Cabaret” and “Entredos” (both winners of several prizes) and performed in several festivals: Amore Azoka, Festival del carrer de Viladecans, Circorts …

She gives aerial classes at the Circus School Il Piccolo Circo (Barcelona), at the Civic Center Boca Nord (Barcelona) and at Puerta  Pequeña (Huesca). She also teaches intensive aerial courses in many different places in Spain.

Iris Mur

She starts aerial acrobatic in the year 2000 (trapeze, tissue, cord lisse) studying with different teachers like Alain Chipot and Ana Josa at the Tanger Circus School, with Victor Hugo from Los Atenas and with Kate from Gente Colgada. She specializes at the Circus School Rogelio Rivel taking classes with Pili Serrat, Antonia Ruiz, Roser Tarrida, Beatriz, Bianca (Brazil), Matleena Laire and Cody. She also studies aerial dance with Pato (Brazil).

She continues her specialization in circus in Italy concentrating on the pedagogical aspect of it. She studies aerial circus with Goes Maelle and acrobatics with Michael Arnedo (Meathink 2011); health and safety in circus pedagogy with Marco Bartoleto; pedagogy and applied didactics with Patrick Pichon; a first level course on teachers training for Social Circus with Emmanuel Bochud and Jose Sermeño from the Cirque du Soleil; clown with Alain Vigneaud and with Michel Dallaire; creation of objects with Samuel Gustavson and Commedia dell’arte with Philip Cabezas.

She works in different shows with different companies: Mephisto Circo; La Fura dels Baus; Barceló Productions, ( with the musical The Jungle Book); Discipulos de Morales; Circo de los Horrores and the company Poble Espanyol.

In 2006, together with Yolanda and Rebeca Gutierrez, she creates the Company Capicua.

She teaches aerial acrobatic to children and adults at the Circo Circlos; in La Fusteria in Cardedeu (Barcelona).

Oscar Valsecchi

Graduated from the International School of Corporeal Mime in London, where he also completed the post-graduate program in Teaching and Directing. Between 1999 and 2006 he worked with Steven Wasson and Corinne Soum as teaching assistant in the same school and worked in their physical theatre company Théâtre de l’Ange Fou, in London, as actor and set designer.Previously he studied at the Ecole Internationale de mimodramme de  Marcel Marceau and completed his training with dance, fencing and trapeze courses.

His interest in circus started in 2001 at the Circus Space in London where he worked as physical theatre teacher for five years.

He performed in more than twenty shows and toured Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, United Kingdom and Rumania.

In 2010 he worked with the actor Lluis Homar in the film EVA directed by Kike Mailloand and he continued to work with him in other projects: “Luces de Bohemia” at the Teatro Maria Guerrero (Madrid); “Adreça desconeguda” (Barcelona); “Terra Baixa (Barcelona).

He worked at the Moveo center in Barcelona.                                                      He is co-founder of the physical theatre duo “Teatro In Sospeso” and of the physical theatre platform ToTum TeaTre.

Currently he teaches in various schools, he is touring with the show Entredos, works for the Mus-e project in Barcelona, at the Plato de cinema and in a new play for the TNC of Barcelona.

Sira Bover

She starts her circus studies in 2003 at the Circus School Rogelio Rivel in Barcelona. At the same time she studies dance in different schools. In 2010 she travels to Brazil where she specializes in aerial disciplines: tissue with Carlos Sugawara and trapeze with Erika Stoppel. She then continues studying with teachers like Miriam Edo, Pili Serrat, Laura Coll and with the company Kriskats.

She works with the company Kinoa in the show Las Galletas de Música and with the company Bolonkauak in the show El equilibrio del Amor in many representations in theaters and festivals.

She is a founder member of the circus association La Crica.

As an independent artist she collaborates with different companies like Gog i Magog, with the company Tub d’assaig, and with the companies Quico, el Célio, el Noi i el Mut de Ferreries, in the movie El cuerpo directed by Oriole Paulo and in the tour with the singer Beth.

She tours for a year in Mexico with the Company Mermejita Circus and has given aerial workshops to circus graduates of the National Center of the Arts of Mexico City.

At present she is touring with the company Capicua for the show Entredos (winner of several prizes) in several festivals around Spain.

She give workshops of social circus and she is an Ashtanga Yoga teacher.

Yolanda Gutiérrez

Capicua

CAPICUA is a circus-theatre company based in Barcelona.

Founded in 2006 by Rebeca Gutierrez, Yolanda Gutierrez and Iris Mur. They all trained at the Circus School Rogelio Rivel in Barcelona then continued studying and specializing in Circus skills attending different workshops and working with different companies around Spain.

In 2006 they started working together to create “Recuerdos de Paquita” and other pieces of small format, but is in 2009 that the company consolidates with the show “CABARET” (Jury Prize in the OFF Festival, Fiestas del Pilar).

In 2010 “CABARET” is re-directed by Oscar Valsecchi and with this new version they win the Prize of the public in the 5th meeting of Teatro de Calle y Artes Circenses de Ávila (2011).

In 2012 Oscar Valsecchi and Sira Bover join the company and together with Yolanda y Rebeca Gutiérrez they create the show “Entredos” (Public choice award for Best Show at the International Feria de Teatro y Danza of Huesca (2013); nomination for the best theatrical staging award, Zirkòlika, Catalunia (2013);  winner of  the Quality Label MQVE-AWARD 2014 (More Quality Visual Theater for Europe)*

Both shows “Cabaret” and “Entredos” are available for touring.

Capicua also offers initiation workshops for different disciplines like static trapeze, trapeze double, tissue, mime, physical theatre and juggling.
